Relentless Congestion Control
نویسنده
چکیده
Relentless congestion control is a simple modification to AIMD congestion control: instead of halving cwnd after a loss, cwnd is reduced by the number of lost segments. It can be modeled as a strict implementation of Van Jacobson’s Packet Conservation Principle. Relentless congestion control has exactly unity gain, which is expected to make it much easier for network devices to accurately control traffic. Relentless Congestion Control is not TCP-friendly. It requires that the network allocates capacity through some technique that segregates the traffic into flows or classes and can send different congestion signals to each. Our goals are to illustrate some new protocol features and properties might be possible if we relax the TCP-friendly paradigm, and to create opportunities for deploying for these new algorithm in the Internet.

TCP Relentless Congestion Control Model
We introduce a simple model of the Relentless Congestion Control proposed by Matt Mathis. Relentless Congestion Control (RCC) is a modification of the AIMD congestion control which consists in decreasing the TCP congestion window by the number of lost segments instead of halving it. Despite some ongoing discussions at the ICCRG IETF-group, this congestion control has, to the best of our knowled...

متن کاملTraffic Congestion and Congestion Pricing
For several decades growth of traffic volumes has outstripped investments in road infrastructure. The result has been a relentless increase in traffic congestion. This paper reviews the economic principles behind congestion pricing in static and dynamic settings, which derive from the benefits of charging travellers for the externalities they create. Special attention is paid to various complic...
متن کاملCongestion Control Approaches Applied to Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a specific category of wireless ad-hoc networks where their performance is highly affected by application, life time, storage capacity, processing power, topology changes, the communication medium and bandwidth. These limitations necessitate an effective data transport control in WSNs considering quality of service, energy efficiency, and congestion control. ...

Mobile ad hoc network congestion control is a significant problem. Standard mechanism for congestion control (TCP), the ability to run certain features of a wireless network, several mutations are not common. In particular, the enormous changes in the network topology and the joint nature of the wireless network. It also creates significant challenges in mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), density ...
